SYNOPSIS OF ACTIVITY
--------------------

Solar activity was very low. No flares were observed in
the past 24 hours and the solar disk is spotless.

Solar activity forecast: solar activity is expected to be very
       low.

The geomagnetic field was quiet to unsettled. The solar wind velocity
was steadily decreasing during the past 24 hours. The greater than 2
mev electron flux at geosynchronous orbit reached high levels today.

Geophysical activity forecast: the geomagnetic field is
expected to be quiet to unsettled on day one (20 august), and quiet
on days two and three(21-22 august).
