SYNOPSIS OF ACTIVITY
--------------------

             Solar activity was very low.

Solar activity forecast: solar activity is expected to be very
       low.

The geomagnetic field has been quiet to unsettled due to the
continued influence of a recurrent coronal hole high speed stream.
Solar wind speed is currently greater than 600 km/s. The greater
than 2 mev electron flux at geosynchronous orbit reached high levels
       again today.

Geophysical activity forecast: the geomagnetic field is
expected to be quiet with the possibility of isolated unsettled
periods for 18 january. On 19 - 20 january, the geomagnetic field
       is expected to be quiet.
