SYNOPTICAL INFORMATION
----------------------

     Auroral activity is now summarized by the presence (or absense) of
ground-based sighting reports. Forecast conditions can be inferred through
the geomagnetic activity forecast section of the daily summary report of
solar and geophysical activity. Near real-time conditions can be determined

               SUMMARY OF GROUND-BASED AURORAL ACTIVITY SIGHTINGS

               (Sightings are preliminary and may be unverified)

0803 UTC - (N59.68 W151.67) - Homer, Alaska 
           Comments: Diffuse glow on northern horizon rapidly rose to become
           arc at 25 degrees alt. some rays visible with aurora then becoming
           mottled and broken bands and arcs low in northern sky.  
 
0915 UTC - (N43.50 W081.75) - Markdale, Ontario, Canada 
           Comments: Well its 4am Eastern time and I spotted them around
           3:20am.  Nice to see them again, although the camera was definitely
           the reason why i new they were aurora.  I saw some distant streaks.
            Hoping for better tomorrow night!  Likely 9-12pm localtime if
           anything!

0947 UTC - (N58.50 W156.75) - South east Anchorage Alaska 
           Comments: City lights are to the northwest. Eastern sky is dark.
           Aurora clearly visible to northeast 
 
1451 UTC - (N58.50 W157.50) - Seward, Alaska 
           Comments: Suprised to see a glow behind Mt. Alice this morning.
