SYNOPTICAL INFORMATION
----------------------

     Auroral activity is now summarized by the presence (or absense) of
ground-based sighting reports. Forecast conditions can be inferred through
the geomagnetic activity forecast section of the daily summary report of
solar and geophysical activity. Near real-time conditions can be determined

               SUMMARY OF GROUND-BASED AURORAL ACTIVITY SIGHTINGS

0616 UTC - (N59.68 W151.67) - Homer, Alaska 
           Comments: Faint colorless arc at about 10 degrees alt. slightly
           mottled appearance. 
 
1103 UTC - (N59.68 W151.67) - Homer, Alaska 
           Comments: Aurora remained fain glow low in north and then an arc
           slowly took shape and rose a little to about 20 degrees. It rapidly
           brightened around 10:45UT and displayed rays and pinkish fringing
           on bottom. It then very rapidly retreated northward an faded from
           view leaving only faint glow again.
