SUMMARY OF GROUND-BASED AURORAL ACTIVITY SIGHTINGS

(Sightings are preliminary and may be unverified)
0700 UTC - (N145.58 W064.08) - Delta Junction, Alaska
Comments: Saw the New Moon rise around 9pm out of the ESE, didn't
expect to see the Aurora with how bright the moon was. Around 11pm
last night, I looked outside and sure enough I saw a faint green
arc across the northern sky. By 1130pm, it got brigher and the
stars behind it faded away. It was a nice 20 degree wide arc with
an embedded curtain. A few times it would appear almost directly
overhead. Colorwise, mostly green, but towards 1140pm, the bottom
portion of the curtain turned red! It dissappeared towards
midnight and the moon was getting higher in the sky.
