SUMMARY OF GROUND-BASED AURORAL ACTIVITY SIGHTINGS
               --------------------------------------------------

(Sightings are preliminary and may be unverified)

0605 UTC - (N64.08 W145.58) - Delta Junction, AK
Comments: Saw that there was a decent solar wind magnitude all day
above 600 km/s and basically planned on going outside an hour after
sunset. Actually probably around 0545 UTC, I could see a faint
curtain in between some cirrus, but it was hard to tel due to
twilight conditions. Between 0605-0615 (10pm local), there was a
faint greenish diffuse glow 20 degs to the northeast and this glow
grew and grew until it was a curtain that covered a east to north
portion of the horizon. Beams started to appear (as if someone
turned a spotlight on in the distance out of the east) and one
large beam in particular that stretched across was zenithal. All of
a sudden around 0630 UTC, the beams started to break up into
smaller sections. In some of the digital pics I can see a purple
edge to the green. Then after 0710 UTC, the activity diminished to
a diffuse glow over northern horizon with a few localized pulses
appearing and disappearing overhead underneath the milky way!
