SUMMARY OF GROUND-BASED AURORAL ACTIVITY SIGHTINGS
--------------------------------------------------
(Sightings are preliminary and may be unverified)
0000 UTC - (N47.27 W093.53) - Grand Rapids, MN
Comments: I went outside to have a cigarette at midnight. There
was something "off" about the sky and then I realized what it was .
. . it was green . . . and it was moving. The aurora was faint,
but visible. There was a constant green glow to it, an occasional
beams. I didn't know that auroras happened in the summer time!
0104 UTC - (N50.25 W123.00) - Salmon Arm
Comments: I couldn't sleep so I went outside and the Aurora was
there! It was green with rays and swooping curtains of brighter
light among the glow at first, then faded slowly until 15 minutes
later it was just a faint glow just above the northern horion. I
have no idea how long it was there before me.
It was surprising as it's rare that you can see the aurora from
here. I wonder what the sun was doing.
